Senator Accuses Lorena Villaverde of Trying to Pressure President Milei

National Senator Martín Soria (Union for the Homeland) stated today that Lorena Villaverde, by demanding her resignation from her seat in the Senate, is 'pressuring President' Javier Milei in a similar way to extradicted drug trafficker Federico 'Fred' Machado, who said that if he spoke, 'the government would fall.'

The Río Negro legislator referred this way to the note presented yesterday by Villaverde and published by the Argentine News Agency, in which she announced to Milei her resignation from her seat as senator, for which she was elected last October 26, and her decision to complete the remaining two years as a deputy.

'If she really wants to resign, she has to go to the electoral justice of the province of Río Negro and communicate her intention to resign from the Senate seat. And she is pressuring the President, just like Fred Machado did, so that he defines himself,' the senator said in an interview with Splendid AM 990.

Soria assured that the case of Villaverde, whose candidacy was not approved by the Senate due to having been imprisoned in the United States for drug trafficking, 'is obviously not over.'

'She has to present an official resignation in the electoral court with jurisdiction in Viedma, communicating her decision that the candidate who came in second place should take her place,' he insisted.

Soria took the opportunity to criticize the 'Clean Slate' project, and explained that since Villaverde has no cases in Argentina, she could have taken office.

'If it were up to the Clean Slate, Lorena Villaverde would be a senator, a drug senator,' he mocked.

Finally, he warned that Villaverde's situation could get complicated in the Lower House, and expressed: 'If she does not have the moral and ethics to be a senator, she should be worried because in the Chamber of Deputies, Facundo Manes presented a request for expulsion.'
